Are your ads still finding new people? How to spot audience fatigue early

A lot of repeat joins doesn't always mean your audience is used up. Here's how to tell real audience fatigue from normal overlap between funnels, by country and ad set, before your costs climb.

Every winning campaign slows down eventually. It starts cheap, you scale, and for a week or two everything works. Then cost per join creeps up and deposits slow, even though nothing in the campaign changed.

Often the reason is simple: your ads have found most of the people they can easily find in that country or audience, and they start showing to the same people again. But not always. And reacting to the wrong signal is expensive: kill a campaign that still had room, and you lose a winner.

Why “lots of repeat people” can fool you

Say 40% of this week’s joins in one country had already joined one of your funnels. That sounds bad, but it depends:

  • You run several funnels in the same niche. The same punter joins your tips channel and your VIP bot. That’s normal overlap, even in a country with millions of potential people.
  • You retarget on purpose. A campaign aimed at people who already joined is supposed to bring repeats.
  • The country is big and your ads keep finding new people every day. Repeats are just a side effect of scale.

None of those mean your audience is used up. So a single percentage can’t be the alarm.

What fatigue actually looks like

Real fatigue shows up as a change, not a level. Joinvoo compares the last 7 days with the 3 weeks before, for each country, ad set and campaign:

  1. Is the share of repeat people rising? For example, from 15% to 35%.
  2. Are your ads bringing fewer new people a day? For example, from 60 a day down to 25, while you’re still spending.

If both happen, your ads are finding fewer people they haven’t reached yet. If repeats are high but new people keep coming at the same pace, that’s normal overlap, and Joinvoo says so.

What you see in Results → Audience

  • At the top: new people and people you already had in your dates.
  • By country, ad set or campaign, with a plain status:
  • Mostly new: under 20% repeats.
  • Normal overlap: repeats, but new people keep coming at the same pace.
  • Slowing down: repeats rising and fewer new people a day. Have new creatives ready.
  • Few new people: repeats past your alert level, still rising, and new people a day clearly dropping.
  • Under each row, ”New people a day: 4, was 10”, so you can see for yourself whether there’s still audience.
  • An 8-week trend for your biggest countries.
  • Retargeting campaigns can be left out with one tap, so they don’t skew anything.

One thing to be clear about: Joinvoo can’t see how big a country’s whole audience is, only what your ads are actually finding. That’s why it watches the trend of new people a day rather than guessing at a total.

The alert

You’ll get a Telegram message only when both signs show up, at most once a day:

📉 Fewer new people in 🇰🇪 Kenya: 4.3 a day now, down from 9.5. 50% of this week’s joins had already joined one of your funnels. Your ads may be running out of new people there: try a new creative or audience.

You can change the level or switch it off in your alert settings.

What to do when it shows up

  1. New creatives first. New angles and formats reach people who ignored your old ads. It’s the cheapest fix.
  2. Widen or change the audience. Drop a lookalike you’ve squeezed, try broad, or test a new interest.
  3. Open a neighbouring country. If the offer works in one country, the same funnel often works next door.
  4. Check whether repeat people pay. Repeats aren’t always waste. If they deposit with a second offer, the report shows it, because first deposits are split between new people and people you already had.

The goal isn’t to panic at a number. It’s to see early, with real signals, when your ads start running out of new people, and to move before your costs tell you.
