Every media buyer running Advantage+ placements has had this argument with himself. The campaign is profitable, but you don’t know why. Is it Instagram Reels doing the work while Audience Network burns money? Or the other way round?
Ads Manager gives you half the answer. Open Breakdown → By delivery → Placement and you’ll see impressions, clicks and cost per result for every placement. That’s useful, but it stops at the click. For a Telegram funnel, the click isn’t the result. The result is the person who joins, registers and deposits days later.
So you end up deciding placements on clicks and joins, which is exactly where junk hides.
Why clicks by placement lie to you
Placements don’t bring the same kind of person.
- Reels and Stories reach people scrolling fast. They tap quickly, so they often join cheap. Some of them never open your channel again.
- Feed usually costs more per click but brings people who read the post before tapping.
- Audience Network can bring very cheap clicks from apps and games. Some are real, and many are accidental taps.
If you only look at cost per join, the cheapest placement wins every time. If you look at cost per depositor, the winner is often a different one. You can’t see that in Ads Manager, because Meta never sees the deposit. Your affiliate program does.
How Joinvoo knows the placement
When Meta sends someone to your link, it can fill in two values for you: the app the click came from, and the exact placement. You ask for them with dynamic parameters in the ad’s URL parameters field, the same way you already pass the campaign, ad set and ad names.
Joinvoo saves those values with the click. When that person joins, registers and deposits, everything is tied back to the same click, so you get the full chain for each placement.
What you see in Results → Placements
First by app:
| App | Joins | First deposits | Join → FTD |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,240 | 31 | 2.5% | |
| 860 | 14 | 1.6% | |
| Audience Network | 520 | 2 | 0.4% |
Then the placements inside each app, such as Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories, Facebook Feed and Facebook Reels, with the best one marked. If you’ve connected Meta or entered your spend, you also see the cost per first deposit.
Clicks from before you added the line show as Unknown. Your old numbers don’t change. They just have no placement attached.

What to do with the numbers
Don’t kill a placement on three days of data. Placements learn from each other inside one ad set, and small numbers swing a lot. This is how I use it:
- Wait for enough first deposits. Under about 20 per placement, treat it as a hint, not a verdict.
- Compare cost per depositor, not cost per join. The cheap-join placement is often the expensive-depositor placement.
- Move budget, don’t just switch off. If Reels clearly wins, duplicate the ad set with Reels and Stories only, and let the original keep running while you compare.
- Check the creative too. A video made for Reels often flops in Feed. A bad placement result is sometimes a creative that doesn’t fit the format.
Placement is one more cut of the same question every media buyer asks: where does my money actually come from? Now you can answer it down to the spot on the screen where the person tapped.
